A Proper Cage

A Cockatiel needs a cage that is big enough. An example can be the cage to your right. This cage costed about $50 USD. It is worth it's price and comes with two sticks and 2 bowls, (One for food, and one for water). Toys in their cage are also an essential. I have a minimum of 6 toys in my cage. Don't forget, cockatiels like to have their own room, so make sure it's bigger than 2 1/2 feet high. The shape doesn't matter, but I liked the one shaped like a real home. The home must also be cleaned about once a week. This will ensure you have a healthy cockatiel cage. My cage can fit about 3 cockatiels. Most people use newspaper in the bottom of the cage for collecting the poop. I personally, use gravel. It's not that expensive and keeps my house smelling great. It's non-toxic, so they won't get hurt if they eat it. The gravel must be changed at least once every two weeks. have the right stuff.

Apartment, or House Pet?

Most people think that you must have a house to have a pet. I live in an apartment and I have no problems with the cockatiels. Cockatiels usually don't damage your personal belongins, so you don't need to worry about that. But, just to be sure, check with your apartment complex to check if you are allowed to have a pet bird. My apartment states I can have a pet cockatiel, but it is required to stay in it's cage at all times.
